We hope your holiday season was as bright as ours! We spent the holiday sharing delicious meals and drinks with family and friends, watching movies and, the reason this newsletter is in your inbox, gathering inspiration and insight from various corners of the Internet, especially as we begin 2014. Here's a few we'd like to share.
The last job you'll ever need
We are always inspired by people who strive to create a healthy work-life balance. One innovative organization that's worth checking out is 37signals. From fully paid vacation packages, 4 day summer work weeks, CSA & exercise stipends, sabbaticals, etc., they understand that taking time off can increase productivity and foster creativity. I know, I know, we all can't work for 37signals, but perhaps we can try to do something different to spark and replenish our energy. Take the scenic route to work, break for a solo 15 minute dance party, go for a walk, even if the weather isn't inviting, jump on a trampoline. Do fun things. You won't regret it.
Want to shape up for the New Year?
Well, how about some exercises in interactive design? (Cue the lame joke trombone.) We loved this list of 35 ideas to increase your site's conversion rates. Experimenting with simple changes such as increasing contrast, sharing testimonials, repeating primary actions are just a few examples to try.
Do you have a moment to take this survey?
We are suckers for surveys. We like creating them and we like taking them. If your 2014 goal is to make more informed design decisions, consider conducting an annual survey. The results you find can help you find out more about your site's visitors and empower you to do better work.
